The Collection of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi

Over the years, many thousands of items have been picked up from the surface of Mleiha and found during building and bulldozing work. Numerous objects have also been removed by people using metal detectors. Some have been kept as souvenirs by locals and expatriates, while others have turned up on the international antiquities market.

These precious figurines, pieces of jewellery and other exquisitely crafted items from Mleiha, from the period 0 - 200 AD, are from the collection of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah. His Highness purchased the collection after being advised they were going to be sold illegally overseas. He donated them to the Sharjah Archaeology Museum, thus restoring them to their rightful place.
